Course Content

• A visual check of the internal and external condition of the vehicle is performed following company procedures.
• A pre-start check is carried out to ensure conformance with road safety standards. This includes tyres, water levels in radiator, windscreen washer and battery, fluid levels for brakes, power steering, engine oil and automatic transmission fluid, operation of headlights and indicators.
• Warning systems (instruments and gauges) are checked to ensure they are operational.
• Any faults that are identified are remedied or reported, in accordance with company procedures.
• The driver adjusts the seating position to provide optimal control and safe operation of the vehicle.
• There is discussion of driving risks and how they can be reduced using defensive driving techniques.
• Participants learn to recognise how acceleration, braking and steering techniques affect the comfort and safety of passengers.
• Road traffic regulations are reviewed.
• participants will learn how to assist elderly clients in and out of the vehicle with regard to their own, and the client’s, safety.
