What is it?

The Safety First Programme is a comprehensive and responsive on-line risk management system. It’s an integrated framework through which management, in partnership with Safety First Risk Assessors, can implement and manage their workplace safety. Through a dedicated website managers can access and update relevant occupational health and safety documents, effectively managing your safety information. This is linked to the consultancy services provided by our on-call Risk Assessors. Ongoing outcome monitoring, also integrated with the website, illustrates the tangible results of the Safety Programme.

The program ensures immediate action to report hazards or injuries as well as providing clear lines of accountability.

The Safety First Programme is certified to the highest standard, ISO9001, to design, implement, maintain and monitor on-site safety systems. It also complies with AS/NSZ 4801 and WorkSafe training for staff. We are confident of soon gaining National Training Organisation Accreditation for our Safety Supervisor training.

The Process

There are five key steps to the Safety First Programme:

Step 1 | Planning and Consultancy

Identifying Hazards and Risks

The Safety First Programme is tailored to each company by a dedicated consultant after an inspection. This assessment is designed to identify potential hazards and relevant obligations and determine those in the workplace who will play key roles.

Once this has been established we can set time frames for the completion of the set-up phase, providing the basis to commence the Safety First Programme.

Step 2 | Training

Making Staff Aware of Hazards and Risks

Hazard awareness is the key to reducing injuries. The Safety First Programme delivers site and task-specific training for employees, specialised training for supervisors - in hazard identification - and reporting mechanisms and guidance for administrators in the management of the Programme.

Step 3 | Framework

Formal Documentation of Risks

Under the Safety First Program, hazard awareness and risk management solutions are formalised in a workable framework.

Through consultation with business owners, Safety Supervisors and employees, Safety First develops dedicated health and safety policies, workplace and site rules, site fire and evacuation maps and puts-up safety signage throughout the workplace.

Step 4 | Monitoring Systems

Implementing Risk Management Solutions Through an Innovative On-line System to Monitor the Compliance of Each Business

The Safety First Programme provides an innovative on-line system to monitor the compliance of each business with its health and safety framework. The dedicated interactive website contains all documents, including report forms and site rules and is accessible from each site.

Incidents are recorded using the Safety Manager Software. This system collects information allowing organisations to analyse the data to discover trend patterns and specific problem areas.

Step 5 | Improvement

Building on Data to Improve Risk Management

The Safety First Programme aims to identify potential hazards and provide on-going improvement in their management. The data collected from the on-line monitoring system is broken down into quarterly reports, providing a detailed analysis of the type, location and frequency of hazards and injuries. This analysis is then used, in consultation with a dedicated Safety First consultant, to deliver real improvements to the safety of work environments in each business.
