Protective Behaviours can help people of all ages and from all walks of life to take control of their lives.

Course Content

At the end of the seminar the participants will:

• Be able to list the range of behaviours that constitute ‘Violence in the Workplace’
• Have knowledge of who displays and uses ‘Challenging Behaviours’ and the range of reasons for their behaviour.
• Have knowledge of how peoples’ behaviours can affect them both physically and emotionally.
• Be able to develop responses that protect them physically and emotionally from harm caused by other people’s behaviours.
• Have identified the need for a network of support within the workplace, and understand their rights and responsibilities in protecting themselves and others from harm.
• Be able to describe the importance of formally reporting incidents of workplace violence.
• Participants will be able to identify a "Challenging Situation" and describe a personal response and reaction, implement strategies that take control of their lives and keep the individual safe whilst respecting their rights. The course is developed in line with the protocols of the Code of Practice on Workplace Violence, WorkSafe Western Australia Commission.

• Promotes safety in the work place.
• Reduces "victim" attitude and increases confidence in employees.
• Enables employees to recognize situations where workplace violence could develop.
• Encourages the avoidance of defusing of situations where workplace violence could be triggered.
• Encourages the development of workplace support networks and promotes the reporting of incidents.
