Senior First Aid

	To give the participant knowledge and skills for resuscitation, shock, bleeding, burns, fractures, legislation and record keeping. Upon successful completion of a practical and theory assessment, a certificate of competency is issued, valid for three years.

Course Content

D.R.A.B.C.D. action plan
Placing an unconscious casualty in the recovery position
Respiratory system and chest injuries.
Choking
Circulatory system and heart conditions.
CPR - Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
Conditions affecting consciousness
Bleeding and shock.
Fractures and sports injuries
Spinal Injuries
Burns and poisons
Bites and stings.
Eye injuries.
Oxygen therapy and defibrillation awareness

Expected Outcomes

Successful participants will be able, in real situations, to render life saving and basic first aid to casualties in need.

Who Should Attend?

This course is the minimum course requirement for people who require a First Aid Certificate in the workplace. It is also a general course that would benefit everyone.

Prerequisites: None

Requirements: All employees in the workplace who wish to gain a basic knowledge of essential first aid.
