Course Objectives

  • To reduce Musculoskeletal disorders arising from handling tasks carried out in workplace. 
  • To teach course participants the fundamental positions and actions to keep themselves and their clients safe whilst manual handling.
  • Manutention aims to instil self-protective behaviours in trainees.
  • Break old habits.
  • Provide a framework for risk assessment of manual handling situations and make informed decisions.

Expected Outcomes

  • Proficiency of course participants in safe techniques for handling people, and equipment.
  • Increased awareness of risk identification, assessment and control.
  • Perform a series of tasks manual handling safely.
  • Discuss the principals underlying the Manutention approach to manual handling.
  • Demonstrate competence in the postures and movements required for safe handling.
  • Perform a series of tasks manual handling safely
  • Be able to discuss control measures for patient handling.
  • Be able to recognise risks and implement control measures.
