General Information for Employees

What You Need to Do When an Injury Occurs

  • Report injury to your Supervisor and if your organisation has the Safety First Programme complete a 6.1 Incident Report Form.
  • Ensure your Manager contacts Safety First to advise an Injury Management Officer of the injury.
  • Obtain a First Medical Certificate from a Medical Practitioner of your choice.
  • Participate in your Return To Work Program.

What Safety First Will Do

  • Arrange for you to see a treating medical practitioner and assist you to see one.
  • Once the first Medical Certificate is received, Safety First will compact the employee and arrange a suitable injury consultation time (Metropolitan Areas), they will then:
    • Assist the employee to complete 2B claim form.
    • Explain workers compensation system and process.
    • Conduct an investigation of the incident that caused the injury.
    • Answer any questions the employee may have in relation to the process .
  • Provide you with an Injury Management Kit, which includes a 2B Claim Form (Regional Areas).
  • Work with you to identify suitable duties and develop a Return To Work Program.
    • In consultation with you, Safety First’s Injury Management Officer will amend your return to work program in accordance with your treating medical practitioner’s recommendations.
    • Safety First can also offer continuing exercise programs.
  • Follow-up and ensure the worker has safely returned to work.
